More than 230 organizations joined the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) during the group’s New Partner Induction Ceremony last month outside Washington, D.C., bringing the overall total to more than 950.

MOAA has been part of MSEP since its 2011 founding and is proud to have currently serving, veteran, and surviving military spouses on staff. Our commitment to spouse employment goes even further, as we work to pass legislation including military spouses under the Work Opportunity Tax Credit -- a way to incentivize even more organizations to tap this underutilized talent pool.

Established as part of DoD's Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) program, MSEP connects military spouses with employers across various sectors, including corporations, small businesses, federal agencies, and nonprofits. The partnership addresses the unique employment challenges faced by military spouses, such as frequent relocations, by providing a robust network of employers dedicated to offering flexible and sustainable career opportunities.

MSEP partners have reported hiring more than 360,000 military spouses through the program's job portal, reflecting the initiative's significant impact on enhancing career prospects for military families. For military spouses seeking employment opportunities, the portal offers access to a wide range of positions from committed partner employers, facilitating connections that accommodate the unique challenges of military life.

Last year, 26,000 military spouses conducted 1.4 million job searches within the MSEP portal, and 95% of spouses would recommend the portal to others, according to a briefing from SECO.

The continued growth of MSEP highlights the collective effort to empower military spouses through meaningful employment, contributing to the overall well-being and readiness of the military community.
