If you’re planning to send a package to a servicemember overseas in time for Dec. 25, you may want to get the wrapping paper ready.
Mail sent via USPS Ground Advantage to the following Army, Fleet, and Diplomatic Post Office (APO/DPO/FPO) ZIP codes should be postmarked by Nov. 4 to allow for “expected delivery” before Christmas Day, according to the U.S. Postal Service:
- APO/FPO/DPO AE ZIPs 090-099
- APO/FPO/DPO AE ZIP 340
- APO/FPO/DPO AE ZIPs 962-966
First-class and Priority Mail to those locations should be sent Dec. 9 or earlier for expected pre-Christmas arrival. Mail sent via Priority Mail Express Military Service (PMEMS) should be on its way by Dec. 16; PMEMS is not available for AE ZIP 093.
Those sending packages to APO/FPO addresses may consider using a Military Care Kit, which includes free address labels, envelope, Priority Mail tape, and six flat-rate boxes. Visit this site for more details on military mail, to include pricing and shipping restrictions.
