My duties at MOAA allow me to connect with fellow veterans in so many ways. Whether it’s a meeting with one of our hundreds of local chapters, a panel alongside other association leaders in the push to protect earned benefits, or the daily interactions with the veterans on our staff and our board of directors, I consider myself lucky to remain an active part of this vibrant, committed group of individuals.

This Veterans Day, I would encourage you to find similar camaraderie.

Staying connected may be easy for some, depending on their neighbors and social circles. But all veterans, their family members, and their survivors can benefit from the support our community provides.

Use this holiday to find that support. Reach out to old shipmates or battle buddies. Attend a Veterans Day parade or ceremony in your area. You’ve served and sacrificed for the honor to be part of this special group – only by remaining engaged can you truly appreciate it.

Join me in recommitting to support this community in any way we can – MOAA’s success depends on the engagement of its members, so consider adding to our advocacy efforts and charitable causes

If you’re not part of a MOAA chapter, consider reaching out. If you don’t have a chapter nearby, consider a virtual chapter. If you’re already involved in a chapter, thank you for being part of a core driver for MOAA’s success – one that not only helps members stay informed with our national priorities and activities, but also encourages them to support their communities through continued service.

Regardless of how you connect, rest assured that MOAA will continue its work on behalf of the wider uniformed services community. My wife Garrety (a fellow veteran) and I wish you all the best this Veterans Day, and we thank you for your current, past, and continuing service to our nation! Never Stop Serving!
