Just weeks ago, hurricanes Helene and Milton struck the eastern United States, leaving a trail of destruction across the region. Millions of Americans have been severely affected, with both small towns and large cities experiencing historic levels of devastation. Homes, schools, businesses, and entire communities have been destroyed, and individuals and families are grappling with the aftermath as they strive to recover and rebuild.
For many, the need for assistance remains urgent, yet resources seem insufficient to meet the overwhelming demand.
[DONATE TODAY: MOAA Crisis Relief]
Those seeking help often encounter restrictions on critical resources, with eligibility criteria that can exclude them from receiving support. While numerous relief organizations and nonprofits offer funding to those facing financial hardships due to catastrophic events, many of these programs limit assistance to active duty personnel, retirees, and disabled veterans.
MOAA has made it our mission to Never Stop Serving. Founded in 2014, The MOAA Foundation serves all members of the uniformed services community. Our mission is to provide critical support services that protect veterans who are facing crisis situations.
The MOAA Foundation’s Crisis Relief Program was established to protect uniformed services personnel, veterans, and their families, including caregivers and survivors, during crises. This fund provides emergency relief grants immediately following natural disasters and other emergencies.
In the past month, The MOAA Foundation has witnessed a significant surge in applications from individuals affected by the recent hurricanes. The unprecedented nature and widespread impact of these catastrophic events have exhausted our program funding. We are doing everything that we can to avoid closing applications to families facing this crisis, but we need more help.
