Have something MOAA members should know? We want to spread the word.
Every week since early 2020, MOAA’s Member Spotlight has featured in our newsletters and at MOAA.org the accomplishments of our members and affiliates. In just the past six months, we’ve helped our wider membership discover:
- A retired Army colonel’s work hosting sailing camps for children of fallen servicemembers.
- A chapter’s flag education program that crosses state lines and reaches thousands of students a year.
- The successful efforts of members pushing to award “Dustoff” crews with the Congressional Gold Medal for their work evacuating thousands of servicemembers during the Vietnam War.
- Members and affiliates nationwide supporting the Honor Flight Network, allowing veterans to visit war memorials in Washington, D.C.
- A virtual chapter’s outreach to hundreds of fellow members facing the aftermath of hurricanes Helene and Milton.
- The NOAA vice admiral whose 30 years in uniform led her to a deputy undersecretary position, overseeing day-to-day management of the entire service.

Each month, the weekly feature highlights MOAA’s Surviving Spouse Corner, a resource for survivors, by survivors, that provides insights on topics from advocacy work to estate planning and preparedness and coping with loss over the holidays. Survivors with feedback on the series or with ideas for future topics can email sscomm@moaa.org.
Members with suggestions for Member Spotlight subjects can email materials to editor@moaa.org. And don’t forget photos – the higher the resolution the better, and be sure to include names and titles of anyone in the picture.
With your help, MOAA can continue spreading the word of members’ and affiliates’ accomplishments. Thank you in advance for reaching out in the new year!
