Medicare Part B rates will rise about 6% in the new year, with the base-level monthly premium moving from $174.70 in 2024 to $185 beginning in January.

That premium applies to Part B beneficiaries whose 2023 yearly income was $106,000 or less for an individual tax filer or $212,000 or less for married couples filing a joint return. Those with higher incomes from their 2023 taxes will pay an Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA) in addition to their base premium. There are five IRMAA brackets, with bracket income levels adjusted for inflation yearly.

2025 IRMAA Rates

  • Those with income from $106,001 to $133,000 on an individual return or from $212,001 to $266,000 on a joint return will pay $259 per month, up from $244.60 in this bracket in 2024.

  • Those with income from $133,001 to $167,000 on an individual return or from $266,001 to $334,000 on a joint return will pay $370 per month, up from $349.40 per month in this bracket in 2024.

  • Those with income from $167,001 to $200,000 on an individual return or from $334,001 to $400,000 on a joint return will pay $480.90 per month, up from $454.20 in this bracket in 2024.

  • Those with income from $200,001 to $500,000 on an individual return or from $400,001 to $750,000 on a joint return will pay $591.90 per month, up from $559 in this bracket in 2024.

  • Those with income above $500,000 on an individual return or above $750,000 on a joint return will pay $628.90 per month, up from $594 in this bracket in 2024.

Married beneficiaries who file separate returns have their own IRMAA rate scale: Those who reported income between $106,001 and $394,000 on their 2023 tax returns will pay a $591.90 monthly premium in 2025, and those who reported $394,001 or more in income will pay $628.90 per month.

The annual Medicare Part B deductible will be $257 in 2025, up from $240 in 2024.
