A few years back, I started a forum called The Field Grade Leader. I was, and still am, exceptionally interested in organizational leadership. I’d reflected on lessons learned in tough jobs and wanted to share my experience with others. Though it started as a blog where I could capture my thoughts, The Field Grade Leader rapidly evolved beyond my expectations. Other leaders came forward, sharing their own ideas and insights. Fast-forward a few years and The Field Grade Leader is now a thriving online community of professionals; I’m proud it has become a resource where different types of leaders come to enable their development.
Over the past few years, I’ve continued to learn, grow, and seek new resources to expand my knowledge. You can imagine how pleased I was to find MOAA, a flourishing community in its own right. Similar to my vision for The Field Grade Leader, MOAA is a solid professional organization, providing insight regarding service-related benefits and resources. Their website is packed with articles, videos, and other digital resources; the summation of vast experience and insight from the MOAA staff. I am most impressed by MOAA’s financial resource section, which provides up-to-date info, even discussing the implications of COVID-19. As I perused this section, I found valuable information on investing, taxes, retirement pay, and even estate planning. Further, as a PREMIUM member, you gain access to the MOAA transition center and financial guidance from experts on the staff. MOAA provides an abundance of readily available and well-organized resources to this community.
My experience with The Field Grade Leader has given me a new appreciation for information sharing in a digital environment. Through this lens, I view MOAA as an exceptionally well-thought-out resource. As a person who is always on the lookout for tools to enable professional development, I highly recommend MOAA.
I would encourage you to upgrade your membership today to take advantage of all these great benefits.
