In November, the U.S. recognizes military families - the backbone of the military - for their unwavering support of their servicemembers. Military Family Appreciation Month, created in 1993 following a proclamation issued by President Bill Clinton, is an opportunity for the general public to show appreciation for military families. Each year, the president issues a similar proclamation continuing this important tradition.
MOAA knows military family members do far more than support their servicemembers. They create communities, support one another, hold down the home front during deployments, and so much more. Our motto, “never stop serving,” reinforces the programs and services we bring to the military community. From the “Keeping a Career on the Move” Military Spouse Symposia series and annual Military and Veteran Networking Forum to our continuing advocacy efforts ensuring servicemembers and their families receive the highly deserved pay and benefits they were promised, MOAA celebrates and serves military families year round. In 2017, the MOAA Foundation introduced the Community Outreach Grant program to provide support to MOAA chapters nationwide who serve their local military communities. Since 1948, the MOAA Scholarship Fund has provided educational assistance to children of uniformed service members and has earned a Platinum rating by GuideStar, a charity rating organization.
MOAA understands the sacrifices made by the spouses and children of our men and women in uniform. We are committed to ensuring military families have the best resources and opportunities to thrive. Throughout the year, but especially this month, we recognize your service and thank you for all you do to keep the nation's military forces engaged in the mission.
