A few months ago the Defense Department announced that they were going to start carrying beer and wine at select commissaries by this summer ... and the people rejoiced.

Because what's better than affordable beer and wine at the Exchange or Shoppette? Saving yourself an extra stop by buying it at the commissary.

But at the time they didn't release the locations of those first stores. So we've just been hanging out, waiting for the day they tell us whether or not our commissary will be one of the first to conveniently place the beer right down the lane for the cheap potato chips.

Today is that day.

The twelve commissaries that will carry beer and wine by the end of the month are:

Your base not on the list? Do not fear! This test will run for 90 days, and then officials plan to roll it out to the rest of the stateside system, says Kevin Robinson, a Defense Commissary Agency spokesman.
