Active duty and retired servicemembers who are MOAA members and who stay two or more nights Monday through Thursday get 25-percent off at Arsenic and Old Lace Bed and Breakfast, a historic mansion in the Victorian village of Eureka Springs. Don’t miss touring USS Razorback, a World War II submarine at the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum. (Razorback conducted five combat patrols during World War II, sinking Japanese vessels, capturing Japanese POWs, and rescuing American pilots who had been shot down.) Georgia

 

At Ridges Resort and Marina, on the shores of Lake Chatuge and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, you can hike the Appalachian Trail, boat on the lake, or ride horseback through the forest. It’s a two-hour drive from Atlanta; Asheville, N.C.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Greenville, S.C. South Carolina

With historical sites, museums, river explorations, and a national park, Columbia (near Fort Jackson) offers something for everyone. The city has compiled a list of military discounts here, with discounts of up to 15 percent on accommodations, plus deals on local attractions and gear.

Tennessee

Whitestone Country Inn near Knoxville is a four-diamond bed-and- breakfast farmhouse resort on more than 600 acres. Active duty servicemembers get a 50-percent discount off the nightly rates, which regularly start at $165. Call (865) 376-0113, and ask for the military discount. Valid Sunday through Thursday.

 

At the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, you’ll view original instruments, photos, memorabilia, and personal effects from artists such as Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, and even the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
