Mrs. Eakin was the born in Mart, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. William P. Sparks, Sr. At age two, she moved with her parents to Waco, Texas where she spent her youth.

She was married to COL Aldean A. Eakin, USA, on April 11, 1931 in Lawton, Oklahoma by her maternal grandfather Judge D. Moncrief.

A descendant of early settlers in this country, Mrs. Eakin enjoyed tracing her ancestry. She was a member of The Huguenot Society of Charleston, SC; Commodore Sloat Chapter; Daughters of the American Revolution, Pacific Grove, CA; The Sparks Family Association, and The Harrison County, Texas Genealogical Society.

Ms. Eakin established a scholarship fund in loving memory of her husband, COL Aldean A. Eakin, USA (Ret). who predeceased her on August 16, 1977.
