Phyllis Schaeffer funded a $25,000 scholarship in memory of her father, Master Sgt. Miles C. Schaeffer, USAF (Ret), who spent most of his career in public and community relations. She said the Air Force gave her parents, inset, a life they would have never been able to have otherwise.

"The scholarship is a way to honor [my father] and thank him," Phyllis Schaeffer said. "Education was always important to my dad, so it seemed like a perfect match. It’s truly one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. I hope it will give a young man or woman the opportunity to get an education they wouldn’t have otherwise been able to get."
