Born in South Weymouth, MA, Art was a graduate of the University of New Mexico and George Washington University (MPA). Art proudly served his country in the US Navy. As a naval officer, he traveled the world for 23 years, starting aboard the USS Collett and ending at NAS Norfolk. A highlight of his career was serving as professor of naval science at Dartmouth College, where he had the good fortune to meet Laurie DeBrot at a cocktail party. They married, bought their beloved 1965 Dodge Coronet convertible, and started cross country for their next post in Hawaii. They had four children and taught them to value education, hard work and family.
Art enjoyed exploring Civil War sites, traveling with Elderhostel, and walked every month at historic Jamestown to learn of their new discoveries. Most important to Art was his family, who will remember him for his great love of history, his ever-present smile, and his motivational order to get out there and CHARGE!
