Born in Ontario, Canada Colonel Lines served as a U. S. Army Nurse.
She never married and had one sister, E. Marie Lines Mills, who lived in Ontario, Canada.

Upon her death, Colonel Lines left her estate to the Military Officers Association of America Scholarship Fund to be used for Designated Scholarships in her memory; and to the Army Medical Department Museum Foundation, Inc in San Antonio, Texas, to maintain the Army Nurse Corps Garden in perpetuity, in her memory.
