Lt. Matthew Lott, USN

Lt. Lott is a native of Georgia. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Logistics and Intermodal Transportation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He was commissioned through the academy and entered into the US Navy Reserve’s Strategic Sealift Officer Force in June 2015.


Lott assisted aboard the USNS Mercy providing experience and assistance to their Deck Department. He has participated in various indoctrination courses with Military Sealift Command – Far East that introduced and trained him in the components and workings of the personnel and offices involved under the command. In addition, he has served as an NCAGS officer and SME with the NATO Shipping Centre at NATO Maritime Command and assisted in multiple exercises under Operation Sea Guardian. He has participated in the Tactical Adviser (TACAD) course and helped assist the Post Indoctrination Course for the Strategic Sealift Officer Force (SSOF). Most recently LT Lott served as the Executive Officer for MSC Ship Support Unit – Guam in the supervisory and daily managerial roles of the command and ongoing COVID-19 relief efforts and operations.

 

Lott currently serves as a Navy Veteran Transition Assistant for Navy Recruiting Reserve Command advising, counseling, and assisting prior service members in re-affiliating with the US Navy’s Selected Reserves.

 

In his civilian career, Lott has served as the third and second officer aboard several vessels, most recently the USNS Mary Sears, an oceanographic research vessel with NAVOCEANO. His career aboard the Mary Sears complements his US Navy career with Military Sealift Command with forward deployment to US Navy’s 7th Fleet. Lott is authorized to wear the Strategic Sealift Officer Warfare Insignia after serving several years aboard various civilian vessels and upgrading his civilian maritime license to Second Mate, Unlimited Tonnage.
