Lucas E. Babbitt, USNR (Ret), was born and raised in New England, and graduated with distinction from the United States Naval Academy in 2000. He later earned a juris doctorate from Stanford Law School and a master of science degree in Management Science and Engineering (Finance Concentration) from the Stanford School of Engineering.
He served on active duty as a naval aviator from 2000 to 2010 and flew 39 combat missions as a pilot in the F/A-18. He is a graduate of the Navy's Fighter Weapons School, more commonly known as "Top Gun," and was named the Association of Naval Aviation's Tactical Aviator of the Year in 2009 for distinguished service in combat Feb. 4, 2009, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
He lives in San Diego with his wife and two children.
