Mission

MOAA Pittsburgh Chapter is your “Officer’s Call” in Pittsburgh!

The Chapter’s mission is to promote the aims of the Military Officers Association of America; provide and engage in community service; encourage and facilitate camaraderie among retired, active, and former officers of the uniformed services; and provide useful services for, and support the rights and interests of, members and their dependents and survivors.

Information on Joining the Chapter

We are always looking for members to join our Pittsburgh Officer's Call!

Membership in the MOAA Pittsburgh Chapter is open to members of MOAA at the national level – individuals who are, or have been, commissioned or warrant officers of the US uniformed services, the surviving spouses of MOAA Life Members, and widows and widowers of any deceased individual who would be, if living, eligible for membership.

Contact us at MOAAPitt@gmail.com for details.  Please place “membership” in the subject line of your email.

Chapter Activities

The MOAA Pittsburgh Chapter meets at the Chartiers Country Club (601 Baldwin Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15205).  The Chapter members and their guests get together about six (6) times a year in the Spring and Fall for Sunday luncheon meetings.  These luncheon meetings provide camaraderie as well as an opportunity to discuss Chapter business.  The luncheons begin with a cash bar at 1300 hours (1:00 PM).  A chef prepared meal (meat, fish, and vegetarian options) is served promptly at 1400 hours (2:00 PM).

In addition, a guest speaker is invited to attend and speak on an agreed upon subject for the benefit and information of those attending.  Past speaker topics include:  a presentation on China:  Strategic Choices and Capabilities; the Editor of Proceedings, the naval affairs magazine; a Bagpiper who demonstrated how bagpipes were and are used as a military device in place of bugles; the Commanding Officer of the USS BOXER (LHD-4) who spoke about the Captain Phillips rescue off of Somalia, Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum Footlocker Outreach Program, a presentation on electric energy efficiency programs and rebates available to members, and many other interesting topics.

The Chapter holds a holiday luncheon in December each year which includes entertainment and a gift exchange.

The Chapter supports 15 JROTC programs and 3 Army/Navy/Air Force ROTC programs.  We have supported Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, Inc., the Southwest PA & Erie Veterans Homes, Operation Troop Appreciation (“OTA”), as well as the Allegheny County Veterans Court.  The Chapter coordinates Bingo events and holiday card distribution at the VA Homes.

Past additional activities:  JO happy hour, baseball game at PNC Park, cruise on the Gateway Clipper.

Legislative Issues

The MOAA Pittsburgh Chapter supports the MOAA national Legislative Agenda.  The 2024 priorities include TRICARE for Life, military housing, and the Major Richard Star Act.

The MOAA Pittsburgh Chapter is an active member of the MOAA PA Council of Chapters and https://pa-coc.org/.
