Mission

The mission of the MOAA Pelican Chapter of Louisiana is to benefit the members of the uniformed services, their families and survivors and to advocate for a strong national defense, while providing needed support to the community and its members. MOAA is the nation's largest and most influential association of military officers. We are a powerful force speaking for a strong national defense and representing the interests of military officers and their families at every stage of their careers.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership in the chapter is open to anyone who holds or has ever held a commission or warrant in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses. Chapter Activities

The MOAA Chapter holds 12 board meetings 10 Membership lunch meetings featuring guest speakers on topics relevant to the members and 12 souses lunches each year. A special Christmas party is held each December and a pot luck each summer. In addition the chapter supports 4 local JROTC programs with awards, several Louisiana council of chapters programs, scholarships and the get out the vote.

Legislative Issues

The Pelican Chapter of Louisiana supports the MOAA national legislative agenda. The chapter is also active in supporting the Louisiana council of chapters in various state veterans' issues. MOAA works numerous issues affecting military people, such as pay, allowances, health care, pharmacy, and TRICARE (the military's health care program). Each has relevance to active duty and military retiree groups, depending upon the issues before Congress.

About Our Chapter

The Military Officers Club Pelican Chapter of Louisiana was founded on Nov 13 1968 as The Retired Officers Club Pelican chapter of Louisiana. It currently has 58 regular members made up of currently serving, former, and retired officers 13 surviving spouses and 3 honorary members.
