Mission

The mission of the Luke Chapter is to benefit the members of the uniformed services, their families and survivors and to advocate for a strong national defense, while providing needed support to the community and its members. We strive to bring together military members with common interests.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership in the Luke Chapter is open to anyone who holds or has ever held a commission or warrant in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and their surviving spouses. Our chapter does not require membership in MOAA national to join our chapter, but over 95% of our members do belong to national. Membership applications are available online at the chapter website; lukemoaa.org or can be obtained from any officer of the chapter. Dues are $25 a year for a member and spouse; $15 a year for surviving spouse members.

Chapter Activities

The Luke Chapter holds 8 dinner meetings featuring guest speakers on topics relevant to members or entertainment appealing to members. A Christmas dinner held each December. These meetings are held at selected venues and posted on the chapter website. In addition, the chapter supports 11 local JROTC programs and the annual Veterans' Day and Memorial Day observances. The chapter awards annually scholarships to deserving high school seniors as they enter college. The chapter is a member of the Northwest Valley Veterans Association and the Fighter Country Partnership, an organization dedicated to preserving Luke AFB in the west valley. The chapter has established Veterans Support Grant Fund to help veterans experiencing special financial needs and homeless prevention.

Legislative Issues

The Luke Chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda and we annually invite our Congressional Representative and Senators to speak to the chapter. The chapter is also active in supporting the state council in various state veterans' issues. We have chapter members who serve on various state agencies and other who devote time and effort to keep members aware of important issues coming before the legislature.

General Information

The Luke Chapter dinner meetings are usually held on the second Thursday, but occassionally on the second Monday, of each month October through May. They begin with a social hour at 5:00, dinner at 6 p.m. and a program at 7 p.m. A fund raising 50-50 raffle supporting our scholarship fund is held at each meeting. This March the chapter will hold its annual silent auction with the proceeds benefitting our scholarship program.
