Mission

Our chapter mission is to: promote and support the purposes and objectives of MOAA; foster fraternal relations among our members; protect the rights and interests of members of the uniformed services, their families and survivors; advocate a strong national defense; and provide support to our community and the nation.

Information on Joining the Chapter

Membership in WICMOAA is open to men and women who are or have been commissioned or warrant officers in the active or reserve components of the seven U. S. Uniformed Services: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Public Health Service, and their surviving spouses. Membership in MOAA is required for members and encouraged for auxiliary members. Please contact our Membership Chairman, listed above, or the chapter, wicmoaa@live.com, for more information.

Chapter Activities

We hold 11 meetings a year that are a mix of luncheons and dinners. In honor of fallen veterans, we post American flags at their graves in local cemeteries for Veterans Day. In addition to our social events, annually we offer two college scholarships to local high school students and support the three local JROTC programs. We also offer an annual scholarship for a single parent head of household who has military affiliation. (Military affiliation is defined as prior military service, prior ROTC, former spouse, or blood relative.) The intent of this scholarship is to provide assistance and incentive to a single parent head of household to improve their education background and thereby enhance their employment opportunities. The scholarship may be used to complete a degree program or to attain a certification in a technical field. For more information on scholarships, including applications, please contact the chapter at wicmoaa@live.com.

Legislative Issues

Our chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda and we encourage our members to contact our Senators and Representative to express their support of specific agenda items. We also contact our legislators to support state council issues affecting active duty and retired personnel in Washington State.

General Information

Our chapter meetings are usually held on the second Thursday of each month, except August. They are a mix of luncheons and dinners. Our luncheon meetings feature guest speakers from the local area as well as many nationally known. Our dinner meetings include guest speakers and social events celebrating national and international holidays and events. Our annual July picnic is a highlight of the summer activities. The time and theme of meetings are announced at meetings and our monthly newsletter. Our usual venue is the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Officers Club.
