Mission

The MOAA Chapter holds 10 meetings a years featuring guest speakers on topics relevant to the members. A special Christmas party is held each December. In addition the chapter supports 12 local JROTC programs. We present medals, one to each school, to the outstanding student selected by the Senior Instructor at each school.  We also present these medals at a luncheon with the parents of the recipient invited.  We are actively supporting the USO at the Columbia Airport as well as the Fisher House in Augusta. Due to the pandemic some of these support activities are limited.

Legislative Issues

Our Chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda and we annually invite our Congressional Representative and Senators to speak to the chapter. Out National Representative is a member of the Chapter and is an annual speaker.  The chapter is also active in supporting the state council in various state veterans' issues.  Several of our members serve on the State of South Carolina MOAA Council.

General Information

Most of our meetings are dinner meetings held in downtown Aiken on the first Wednesday of the month.  They begin at 6 PM and usually conclude by 9 PM.  Our annual dues is $25 and our dinner meals are $25 each as well.  We send emails in advance of each meeting which highlight he meal and information about the speaker.

About Our Chapter

The Aiken chapter was granted recognition on 9 December 1963 and covers the Western Midlands portion of the state.  We are the oldest chapter in South Carolina. We meet monthly except for July and August usually at Newberry Hall in downtown Aiken.  Our meetings are in the evening and provide a short social time before a sit-down dinner. We have been very successful in attracting excellent speakers throughout Aiken County and the Augusta, Georgia area who cover varied subjects. We also publish a monthly newsletter.
