New York is fabulous and fun — and the world’s most expensive city, according to a recent study. But with these military offers, the Big Apple can fit into your budget vacation.
The 1,781-room Sheraton New York Times Square on Seventh Avenue offers active duty servicemembers a government rate that starts at $159, which represents about a 15-percent discount. The hotel was renovated in 2013 to the tune of $180 million, which included a complete guestroom redesign. Book online by clicking here and using the rate GOVRMT, or call (212) 581-1000.
The historic Wolcott Hotel — which opened in 1904 and describes itself as “antique chic” — is just three blocks from the Empire State Building. We found rooms starting at $125, and servicemembers get a 15-percent discount on top of that, plus complimentary continental breakfast and discounts on yoga classes and bike rentals. To book, use promotion code “MIL.” Call (212) 268-2900.
Homewood Suites by Hilton in midtown New York (one block from Times Square) — offers 15 percent off the best available rate for active duty or retired servicemembers and their families for any leisure stay. The all-suite hotel also offers complimentary breakfast and free Wi-Fi. You’ll need to book a minimum of three nights if you arrive on a Tuesday night; Wednesday night arrivals must stay at least two nights. The offer is valid through August 2016. Use promotion code “MFR” at time of booking and show your military identification card at check-in. Call (212) 244-0644.
The four-star, art deco 317-room Carlton Hotel on Madison Avenue offers active duty servicemembers a $129 rate as part of Gemstone Hotels’ company-wide Military Honors program. And servicemembers who have returned home from any overseas deployment within the past six months pay a “Welcome Home” rate of just $65. Call (212) 532-4100.
